A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter after a report from The Northern Echo made a surprise claim concerning Emile Smith Rowe and the transfer links with Aston Villa.
Smith Rowe has been at the heart of one of the most intriguing rumours of the summer so far.

It was suggested that the Villans had made a £25 million bid for the 20-year-old.
Understandably, that bid was rejected. And according to the Daily Mail, he is set to sign a new contract at the Emirates after a breakout year with Mikel Arteta’s side.
But while the door is not completely shut, the Villans are seemingly holding out hope that there is still a deal to be done.

According to The Northern Echo, Villa believe that they have a decent chance of signing the attacking midfielder this summer.
Of course, Smith Rowe signing a new contract will likely put an end to all speculation.
But many Arsenal fans clearly think it should not even take the starlet extending his contract for Villa to give up.
It was recently claimed that an offer of £75 million would not tempt Arsenal into selling Smith Rowe.
And the supporters remain more than confident that Smith Rowe is going nowhere – despite Villa’s reported belief.
