Arsenal transfer news: Reported attacking target wants £178k-a-week
Arsenal have been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko in recent weeks.
90Min recently reported that the Gunners are still monitoring the Germany international.
Arsenal are currently looking at bolstering their attacking ranks, with Gabriel Jesus currently on the sidelines.
While Mykhaylo Mudryk remains their top January target, the Gunners also appear to be looking further ahead.
Arsenal aren’t the only Premier League club said to be in pursuit of Moukoko, however.
As well as the Gunners, the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly in the race.
Aside from being an ‘incredible’ talent, clubs are after Moukoko because of his availability.
The 18-year-old’s Dortmund contract expires at the end of the season, and there hasn’t been a breakthrough in talks.
90Min claims Moukoko wants €200,000-a-week (around £178,000-a-week).
Dortmund haven’t been able to match that, apparently offering €100,000-a-week.
Decent investment – TBR View
The opportunity to sign one of the best teenage forwards in world football for free in summer isn’t one Arsenal can pass up.
However, the Gunners – and all other suitors – will likely have to pay up when it comes to a sign-on fee and salary.
As per Spotrac, a £178,000-a-week salary would make Moukoko the third highest-paid player at the Emirates.
At present, Gabriel Jesus is on a reported £265,000-a-week, while Thomas Partey is on £200,000-a-week.
Third-highest is Oleksandr Zinchenko, on a reported £150,000-a-week.
So if Arsenal want to sign Moukoko, this is something they’ll have to bear in mind.
Considering how good he has been, how high is ceiling is and how many top clubs want him, he seems like a decent investment.
