Arsenal transfer news: Gunners now believe they could sign Declan Rice

Arsenal have made Declan Rice their top target for the summer transfer window and believe that they can beat Chelsea to the signature of the West Ham star, according to a report from The Times.

The Gunners are flying right now. They now sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. And it really does appear that Mikel Arteta’s men are very much in the title race.

It seems that Arsenal hope that their progress will not go unnoticed by potential targets.

Arsenal make Declan Rice their top summer target

According to a report from The Times, the Gunners have now made Rice their top target for the end of the season. And they think that they could be the ones to lure him away from the London Stadium.

The report claims that West Ham are expected to sell the 24-year-old at the end of the season. His contract expires in 2024. And while they have the option to extend that by a further year, it would appear that Rice is not planning to commit anymore of his future to the Irons.

He could cost around £80 million. But The Times suggests that Arsenal are ready to make a big play to secure his signature.

Signing Rice would be a huge statement from Arsenal. The Times notes that Chelsea want him, while Manchester United could also join the race.

He has established himself as one of the leading midfielders in the Premier League. And for many, he appears to be a future England captain.

He is a ‘magnificent‘ player. And he is only likely to get even better, particularly if he is playing higher up the Premier League in the near future.

It could be another game-changer for Arsenal if they could bring him to the Emirates.
