Arsenal transfer news: Edu Gaspar lining up replacement for Cedric Soares

Cedric Soares is now open to leaving Arsenal this month, with The Evening Standard reporting that Edu Gaspar is already lining up a possible replacement.

Mikel Arteta has switched up the look of his back-four this season by moving Ben White out to right-back to accommodate William Saliba.

Arsenal have been solid defensively and White has adjusted to his new role in Arteta’s side with ease, meaning Cedric has found opportunities hard to come by.

The Portuguese right-back is yet to start a single game in the Premier League this season after making 21 appearances in the competition last time out.

Cedric has been heavily linked with a move to newly-promoted Fulham and Edu is eyeing a possible move for Valladolid full-back Ivan Fresneda to replace him.

Cedric Soares now open to leaving Arsenal

Arsenal and Fulham remain locked in talks over a deal for Cedric this month, according to The Evening Standard. Edu is already looking at potential replacements for the 31-year-old and is considering making a move for Fresneda.

The Cottagers are attempting to land Cedric on either a loan or permanent deal this month, with Marco Silva keen to reunite with the Arsenal star after working with him at Sporting Lisbon.

Cedric has fallen down the pecking order under Arteta and is open to leaving the club should Arsenal accept an offer for him.

The right-back has only managed to make two substitute appearances in the league this season, with Arteta preferring Takehiro Tomiyasu as a back-up option to White.

A switch across London to link-up with Silva could be a good move for Cedric, especially as the newly-promoted side are performing way above expectations at the moment.

But Arteta will be keen to replace him, especially as his squad is looking slightly thin in other areas of the pitch.

Fresneda is certainly impressing in Spain and at 18-years-old, he could become a brilliant long-term option for Arteta at right-back.
