Arsenal transfer news: Attacking target faces months out through injury
Arsenal have been linked with Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic in recent weeks.
Pulisic is one of numerous forwards Arsenal have reportedly been monitoring.
The Gunners seemingly tried to bolster their attacking ranks in the summer window, but failed to do so.
Arsenal had to pivot towards a new midfielder, and tried for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, but to no avail.
Now, with the January transfer window in full swing, the Gunners are trying again.
Indeed, Arsenal’s hand has been forced by the injury to Gabriel Jesus.
Admittedly, Arsenal have seemingly been focusing their efforts on a different forward – Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Things seem to be heading in the right direction on that front.
However, it’d be surprising if the Gunners didn’t have other choices on their wish-list, just in case.
But while Pulisic would’ve been a good shout for Arsenal, he sadly won’t be available for a number of months now.
Chelsea boss Graham Potter has confirmed that the American could now miss “a couple of months” due to injury.
Pulisic came off in the first half of the 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League with a knee problem.
Potter initially said the USA international would miss a couple of weeks.
However, following further assessment, the time frame around Pulisic’s return has shifted.
“Christian is a couple of months, we think,” Potter told Sky Sports.
It’s a shame to hear that Pulisic faces months out on the sidelines.
In addition, if the 24-year-old had any plans to move clubs this month, they’ll have to be put on ice while he recovers.
Pulisic is a superb player who could do with a change of scenery. And Arsenal may have well been a good shout.
Perhaps this is one that can be revisited in the summer transfer window.
