Report: Arsenal agree loan move for Saliba; deal includes option to buy

Marseille have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign William Saliba on loan for next season as well as have an option to make the deal permanent.

According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 giants have reached an agreement with Arsenal over the loan signing for Saliba. However, there is now an option for Marseille to sign the France youth international permanently.

As reported by BBC Sport, Arsenal signed Saliba in 2019 from Saint-Etienne for £27m. The centre-back is yet to play a first-team minute for the Gunners since arriving.

Saliba spent the second half of last season on loan with OGC Nice. Marseille will be the youngsters third loan spell away from Arsenal since arriving two years ago.

The French youngster looked likely to join up with Mikel Arteta’s squad for pre-season. However, as initially reported by the Athletic, Saliba is now set to join Marseille this summer for the 2021/22 campaign.

As well as Saliba, the Ligue 1 side will also set sign Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi this summer.

According to Goal, the midfielder will join Marseille initially on loan before joining permanently next summer for a total fee of £10m. The former FC Lorient star has not featured for Arsenal since June 2020 in a 2-1 loss away to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Guendouzi spent last season with Hertha Berlin, where the 22-year-old impressed for the Bundesliga Side.
