TBR View: Arsenal have been handed a massive transfer boost by Premier League rivals' move for 25-year-old
The recent reports that Manchester City are close to sealing a £100m deal for Jack Grealish could hand Arsenal a boost in the transfer market.
According to talkSPORT, the deal to bring the Aston Villa man to the Etihad Stadium is ‘as good as done’.
That will be music to the ears of anyone associated with the Gunners, who have transfer plans of their own.
Earlier this week, Eurosport claimed that Arsenal had made enquiries for Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez. The move for Grealish will undoubtedly hand the Londoners a boost in a bid to bring the duo to north London.
The England international’s arrival means City will have to offset some players this summer. Bernardo Silva and the duo have been widely reported to be the victims of the club’s £100m transfer.
But, Pep Guardiola’s loss is Mikel Arteta’s gain.
Arsenal handed transfer boost
The potential additions of two world-class players is just what the Gunners need.
Their mixture of title-winning experience and ability in the final third will enhance Arsenal’s attack.
Since moving to City in 2015, Sterling has scored 114 goals in just under 300 appearances. When you factor in the fact he struck just 23 times in 129 games for Liverpool, it’s a sensational increase.
The London-born ace has flown under the guidance of Guardiola, becoming one of the best wingers in the world.
Meanwhile, Mahrez was City’s saviour in their Champions League semi-finals last season. He scored three times across the two legs versus Paris Saint Germain to guide his team to the final.
His silky feet and mesmeric dribbling would be a stark improvement on the inconsistent Nicolas Pepe.
Manchester City’ potential deal for Grealish has handed Arsenal a massive transfer boost.
The hierarchy at the Emirates Stadium must make the best of this situation as they look to increase the quality in their squad.
