Report: Arsenal have been tracking 'fantastic' Rangers star for 18 months, Gerrard also wants to sign him

Arsenal could end up turning their attentions to Rangers midfielder and current Aston Villa target, Glen Kamara, according to a report from 90Min.

90Min have ran a feature looking at Arsenal’s potential midfield targets going forward. And among a list of names already out there, they claim that Kamara is also being monitored by the Gunners. It’s claimed Arsenal have been watching Kamara ‘very closely’ for 18 months at least.

Kamara, 26, has been one of Rangers’ outstanding players for some time now. Steven Gerrard is a big admirer of the Finland international. The now Aston Villa manager – who also wants to sign Kamara for his new club – labelled the midfielder ‘fantastic’ and a ‘Rolls Royce’ after being impressed by his star man at Ibrox.

Having missed only two of Rangers’ 20 games in the league this season, Kamara is seen as robust and reliable in the middle of the park. Arsenal are looking desperately to bring in a new midfielder this month. Arthur Melo of Juventus is being tipped to join this weekend. However, that deal is not yet done.

TBR’s View: Glen Kamara To Arsenal Could Work

In terms of players north of the border who would be a more or less guarantee of success in England, you’d have to say Glen Kamara is in that bracket.

The Rangers star has been nothing short of superb at Ibrox. Strong in the tackle, a fantastic engine, and more than capable on the ball, Kamara is very much the all-action midfielder many crave. Of course, the Gers won’t want to sell one of their star men on the cheap.

But, the fact that Arsenal and Villa are keen could be good news. It might ensure a bidding war gets underway eventually and that is what Rangers will want. Arsenal, meanwhile, could do far worse than bring the Finnish star in.
