Arsenal and Tottenham are set for a summer battle to secure the signature of Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to the Daily Star.

The Belgian international is currently enjoying a successful loan spell with Leicester City. He has netted three goals and created five assists, adhering himself to the club’s supporters.

The Foxes would love to keep the 21-year-old at the King Power Stadium but the £40 million valuation could scupper their ambitions.

Tielemans is widely regarded as one of the future stars of world football. His form at Leicester has been incredible and the interest from Spurs and Arsenal comes as little surprise.

Monaco are scrapping for their lives in the French top flight and a departure at the end of the campaign looks inevitable.

If Arsenal and Spurs are going to scramble for the midfielder’s signature this summer, it seems likely that Champions League football might prove vital.

Tielemans would surely relish the chance to showcase his talents in Europe’s elite club competition.

The Gunners, in particular, have seen their ambitions of reaching the Champions League take a hit; although they could still qualify by winning the Europa League.

Spurs are desperate to bolster their squad. They haven’t signed a player for two transfer windows and Tielemans would be an ideal complement for Mauricio Pochettino’s young crop of talent.
