Arsenal’s form as of late has been sub-par to say the least.
The Gunners have failed to win in any of their last four Premier League games, and fingers are being pointed all around the Emirates at the moment.
Declan Rice’s form has been criticised recently, while Ben White was questioned for his performance against Chelsea on Sunday.
Speaking on the Optus Sport Football Podcast, Michael Bridges has been discussing Kai Havertz’s form this season, and he says that he’s really not sold on the German as a striker.
Bridges says that he sometimes watches Havertz and thinks that he hasn’t got a clue where he’s meant to be or what he’s meant to be doing.

Kai Havertz is clueless
Bridges was very critical of Havertz.
The pundit says that he simply isn’t having Havertz as a player, claiming that he’s incredibly frustrating.
“I am not, I’m sorry. I am not having Kai Havertz,” Bridges said.
“Honestly, I can’t take him. He frustrates the hell out of me. He’s not a striker.”
“He’s tried his best. He’s tried to adapt into that position and he’s done very, very well. But I am still, there’s moments I look and I just think you haven’t got a clue where you’re meant to be or what you’re meant to do in that moment in time.
“He’s weak. He can’t play with his back to goal. So yeah, it’s another big fundamental error where I think Arteta missed out massively in the summer.”
Havertz’s stats for Arsenal
Havertz is a very unorthodox player, and as Bridges says, he can be frustrating at times.
However, his stats for Arsenal when starting as a striker really aren’t all that bad.
| Kai Havertz stats for Arsenal as a striker | |
| Games | 32 |
| Goals | 13 |
| Assists | 8 |
21 goal contributions in 32 games is a solid record, and while he perhaps could do more in certain games, he’s certainly not at the epicentre of Arsenal’s problems right now.
Havertz’s positioning has been questioned in recent weeks, and he has struggled without Martin Odegaard in the team, but to blame Havertz for Arsenal’s recent dip in form is unfair to say the least.
Arsenal probably could do with another alternative striking option, but after earning 89 points last season, it’s clear that Arsenal are capable of winning the league with Havertz up front.
Arsenal do have some serious problems at the moment, but Havertz isn’t necessarily the main issue within this team right now.
