Report: Arsenal have made decision on 20-year-old as Edu looks to save money in the market
Arsenal will keeping young goalkeeper, Karl Hein, at the club, amid talk he could end up going out on loan for the season.
The 20-year-old stopper has been promoted to the Arsenal first-team for this summer and was even featured on the official team photograph, which suggests he’s part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
And according to Football.London, that is exactly the case for Hein at Arsenal, with the young stopper expected to be the third-choice ‘keeper for the 22/23 season. Answering questions from fans for FL, journalist Kaya Kaynak responded:
“With Leno, Okonkwo and Runarsson now, Hein will be staying at Arsenal as the third choice keeper this year assuming a truly impeccable offer doesn’t come in. He was also in the first team photo call which feels like a pretty big indication of the role he’ll have this year.”
Hein could well get game time in the League Cup as Arsenal look to navigate Europa League football along with a push for the top four.
They’ve started the season well, with two wins from two and face another winnable game this weekend when they travel to newly-promoted Bournemouth.
TBR’s View: Hein Can Seize His Arsenal Chance
Karl Hein might not get too many opportunities to play but being around the full season as deputy to Aaron Ramsdale and new signing Matt Turner can only help him.
It’s a big show of faith from Arteta to keep Hein around and one which will give the 20-year-old confidence.
The Gunners are in for a huge season and there is a sense that everyone will have a part to play at some point.
