Cirjan Catalin has confirmed on Twitter that he has been called-up to participate in first-team Arsenal training, and the teenage playmaker has posted a clip on social media – and Gunners fans have responded excitedly.

Catalin, 18, has been a regular for the Under-23 side this season – playing 11 times in Premier League 2 for Steve Bould’s side and even scoring in a 6-0 win over Blackburn’s second string. Certainly, he is ahead of the curve.

The Romanian star also scored against Gillingham’s senior side in the EFL Trophy – in which the Gunners won on penalties. Plenty of promise then for the playmaker, who has now been given the chance to shine in senior training.

With the majority of Arsenal’s first team off on international break, it is likely that a whole raft of Under-23 stars were given the call-up to compete with the remaining senior players. Catalin posted a video on Twitter.

Catalin certainly has plenty of competition ahead of him with a view to breaking into the first team. Martin Odegaard’s move to Arsenal and Emile Smith-Rowe’s emergence will certainly hamper his chances of a debut.

But Catalin is certainly showing plenty of promising signs and his latest inclusion in senior training is testament to his good form and progression this season. Arsenal fans responded to the training clip with plenty of excitement.
