Are Arsenal targeting Chelsea's out-of-favour striker?
Arsene Wenger has set eyes on Senegalese Striker Demba Ba.
Ba, whom Chelsea signed during the January Transfer Window of last season is now a target of Gunners as the North Londoners look to strengthen their squad.
The striker, who was signed by Rafa Benitez to fill Sturridge’s place has scored only two goals for Chelsea. One being the most memorable, in the FA Cup Quarter final against Manchester United.
But it seems that Ba is not in the plans of Jose Mourinho. He was not even in the bench in the last two games of Chelsea. Now with the signing of Samuel Eto’o, it becomes more difficult for Ba to break into The Special One’s plans. Torres, Eto,o and wonder kid Romelu Lukaku will be the strikers for Chelsea this season.
Now that Victor Moses has been loaned out to Liverpool and Ba on the verge of a move out of Stamford Bridge, it looks as if Mata will stay in Chelsea.
Chelsea might have valued Ba somewhere around 7M Euros if it is a permanent transfer. Given his recent form Arsenal might bid 4M Euros or somewhere around that region.
Roma are also interested in signing Ba. It will a tough task for Wenger because Chelsea will look to off-load their out of choice striker to Roma.
Wenger who was criticised for not signing star players has now made a last minute bid for Mesut Ozil as well. Wenger still has 70M pounds left with him to spend on layers and he looks to strengthen his squad by making a few notable signings by midnight.
