Arsenal manager Unai Emery is looking to build his squad for the future and a promising young centre-back is on his wanted list.
According to The Sun, Arsenal could launch a £15m bid for Brentford centre-half Ezri Konsa in January.
Konsa has been in fine form for Brentford since his summer switch from Charlton Athletic.
And that has attracted the attention of the Gunners, who are impressed with Konsa’s ball-playing ability from the back.
Tonight is the perfect chance for Arsenal to send scouts to run the rule over whether Konsa is ready for Premier League action.
In tonight’s Championship clash, Brentford face West Brom, who have a deadly attack at Championship level.
In Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle, the Baggies have two goal scoring strikers with varying styles.
Rodriguez, at 6ft 1in, is more of an all-round striker, a target man and a presence up top, while diminutive forward Gayle is a fox-in-the-box style striker.
Konsa has his work cut out to prevent these two strikers from getting on the score sheet tonight.
Rodriguez and Gayle both have nine goals each this term, while others like Harvey Barnes (seven), Matty Phillips (five) and Hal Robson-Kanu (three) pose danger from elsewhere.
If England under-21 international Konsa can keep West Brom quiet, then Arsenal have to take him seriously.
Tonight’s match is the biggest indicator yet of whether the 21-year-old is ready to make a move to Arsenal.
