The transfer window has proved to be quite a fruitful one for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, with the big signing of Gabriel Magalhaes the eye-catching capture for the Gunners.

Arteta is trying to oversee a bit of an overhaul at the club. As well as the signing of Gabriel, a number of other players could find themselves leaving before the window slams shut, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to sign a new deal soon.

Another player who could be on his way out though is Hector Bellerin. The Spaniard is reportedly being considered as a potential sale, with the Independent claiming a £35m move to PSG or Barcelona could be sanctioned soon by the Gunners.

But while the loss of a seasoned player such as Bellerin will be a blow, surely this means that Arsenal will now be ready to stump up the cash to bring in long-term target, Thomas Partey.

Partey reportedly has a £45m release-clause at Atletico Madrid. It goes without saying, then, that the time is now for the Gunners if they do wish to land the Ghana star.

The signing of Partey would complete a fine summer for Arteta

Arsenal has been missing a midfield enforcer for some time now. Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos did well towards the back end of last season but they still, at times, lack that bite needed.

Partey has all those qualities in abundance. A standout performer for the red half of Madrid for a number of months now, he is the sort of player who can hold a midfield together and drive his team on.

His signing would complete a fine summer’s work for Mikel Arteta. The spine of the team would be strengthened and cemented, especially if, as expected, Aubameyang does pen that new deal.

Rest assured, the Gunners boss won’t be authorising Bellerin’s sale without a plan in mind. If that plan is to sign Partey, then most Arsenal fans will probably give the deal their blessing.
