Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey over the last few months but Liverpool could be about to steal in and sign the Ghanaian – which has prompted reaction from Gunners fans.
The Sun have claimed that Atletico are interested in offering 26-year-old Partey to Liverpool’s rivals Arsenal this summer – in order for Diego Simeone to land a target of his own, in the form of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Partey has caught the attention of plenty of admirers for his performances in the Champions League, which included starring for Simeone’s men in both legs against Liverpool – eventually knocking The Reds out of the competition.
The Ghana international is rated at about £45million, as per the Sun, and he remains a priority for Arsenal. However, the report claims Atletico doubt whether the Gunners can meet such a figure given the current global health crisis.
Whether Liverpool want Partey and would be willing to give up Oxlade-Chamberlain to get the African powerhouse remains to be seen. Liverpool are certainly well stocked in holding midfield, with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner.
Arsenal supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Liverpool and Atletico Madrid could engineer a swap between Partey and Oxlade-Chamberlain – and many have offered differing opinions.
If Liverpool get Partey they’re winning the league for the next 3 years.

Very much doubt Ox is being considered by Atleti

Partey is way better then injury prone Ox. Also Party suit more Athletico’s way of playing then aggressive full cylinder buzzing Ox.

That’s exactly the type of deal that Ox would accept too.

We need to offer Elneny for swap deal then.

Am not worried, we just need to be patient and wait for the perfect time to get our man. OX is not leaving EPL, Liverpool will happily turn down the offer. He is a player they don't need at the moment🤷🏽♂️
