The Father of Flamengo midfielder Gerson has claimed that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur fans are interested in his son after a stunning campaign with the Brazilian side – and Gunners supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Gerson, 22, joined Brazilian side Flamengo from Roma last summer, despite clocking up 42 outings for Roma – and 40 on loan at Fiorentina. The uncapped Brazilian returned to his home country and has enjoyed a stunning season.
The holding midfielder helped Jorge Jesus’ side lift the Copa Libertadores, beating Argentine side River Plate. Gedson was also a crucial part of the Brazilian side that reached the final of the Club World Cup – taking Liverpool to extra time.
During an interview with Yahoo, Gerson’s Father and agent Marcos Santos discussed the player’s future and stated that both Arsenal and Tottenham were interested in the midfielder – but faced competition from Borussia Dortmund.

“Nobody knew about Arsenal, but now that I’m telling you, everyone will know,” Santos said, when discussing Arsenal interest. He also confirmed Tottenham and Dortmund’s interest: “Everyone you mention there is true. But they have only asked.”
Arsenal are seemingly using the Brazilian leagues as a new pool of talent, having produced a stunning deal to sign teenage wonderkid Gabriel Martinelli last summer – and then Pablo Mari on a loan-to-buy deal from Flamengo.
Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that their club are supposedly looking at Brazil Under-20 international Gerson as an options this summer – and many feel he would be a very good signing.
