Arsenal are reportedly set to offer Gabriel Martinelli a new contract just 12 months after he put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Gunners – and Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter.
Martinelli, 19, joined Arsenal from Brazilian side Ituano last summer and was expected to be a part of the club’s Under-23 side – with the odd first-team appearance here and there. Instead, he is become crucial to the Gunners.
The Brazil Under-23 international has scored 10 goals in 26 league and cup appearances – despite 11 of those coming off the bench and playing numerous matches out wide instead of his preferred position up front.

The Times claimed in a lengthy piece about Mikel Arteta’s side that Martinelli was to be offered a new deal, days after Bukayo Saka put pen to paper. It is ‘expected’ that Martinelli will accept a new deal.
That is, despite Martinelli agreeing a huge five-year contract worth £10,000 a week (Mail) just last summer following his move from Brazil. It is believed that Martinelli will be given much-improved terms to match his importance.
Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Martinelli could be the next Gunners ace to sign a new contract – and many have applauded their club, with some confident they are learning from their mistakes.
