Arsenal supporters react as club reportedly close to signing free agent George Lewis

Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign free agent George Lewis after the Norwegian winger enjoyed a successful two-week trial earlier this season – and Gunners supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news.

Goal claimed on Thursday evening that 19-year-old Lewis is set to sign a deal with the Gunners after impressing at Arsenal’s London Colney training base in March. He impressed during an initial seven days, and was then offered another week.

Lewis has spent his time in the lower leagues of Norwegian football after coming through the ranks at Tromso. He has since spent time at Tromsdalen and Fram Larvik. Lewis, born in Rwanda, has also spent time with Ipswich Town.

Arsenal are in talks to land teenager Lewis after his trial period in March but it is expected that the young winger will initially team up with Steve Bould’s Under-23 side – unlike Gabriel Martinelli and Matteo Guendouzi who joined the senior side.

Arsenal have plenty of options on the flanks, in the form of Reiss Nelson, Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and plenty of others – while Martinelli and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been used on the left side of the attack this season.

Arsenal supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Lewis could be about to sign for Arsenal – and many Gunners fans are excited at the prospect of Lewis in a red and white shirt.
