Arsenal supporters hail Lacazette after he opened the scoring in Southampton win

Arsenal returned to the top four with a comfortable 2-0 win over Southampton yesterday at the Emirates Stadium.

With Manchester United drawing 0-0 with Liverpool and Chelsea in EFL Cup final action, the Gunners had an opportunity to take advantage, but it came against the side who ended their long unbeaten run back in December.

But Arsenal are a different beast at their own patch to the team that can have a soft centre on the road and they swept aside Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side .

First half goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan got the job done to round off a decent week for Unai Emery’s side, after they qualified for the last 16 of the Europa League in midweek too.

Lacazette got the nod ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front and took just six minutes to prove Emery right on that front.

He is now firmly a fan favourite and a reliable source of goals – and has scored in his last four games at the Emirates Stadium – and the supporters took to Twitter to hail his display which got the ball rolling.
