Arsenal’s hopes of signing Dani Ceballos permanently have been dented – according to reports emerging from Spain.
Spanish media outlet AS reports that Real Madrid plan to use several loan players, including Ceballos, in the 2020/21 season. With the first-team struggling, Real Madrid are plotting an overhaul with some loanees rising to the fore.
Real Madrid have long-term plans for some of their loanees. The Spanish giants currently have 17 first-team players out on loan. And five are expected to be accelerated into the first-team squad next season.
Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund) and Martin Odegaard (Real Sociedad) join Ceballos in Real Madrid’s plans next season. Japan international Takefusa Kubo (Real Mallorca) and Sergio Reguilon (Sevilla) are the other two.
Arsenal were hoping to sign Ceballos on a permanent deal and have already made contact over a potential £25.8m move (El Desmarque). But Real Madrid will block Arsenal’s plans.
Ceballos has already shown his potential at Arsenal without setting the stage alight just yet. With one goal and two assists to his name, he is getting up to speed with the English game.
The Spain international, 23, could be a long-term asset for the Gunners if they can land him. But this latest report will be a blow to their hopes.
