Arsenal stars and Ryan Sessegnon applaud Eddie Nketiah on Instagram after 'fantastic' Wednesday goal
Eddie Nketiah scored the pick of the goals as Arsenal cruised past AFC Wimbledon – prompting reaction from plenty on his Instagram post.
Nketiah, 22, was handed his first game time of the 21-22 season on Wednesday night – starting up top in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
The Gunners eased to a win, with Alexandre Lacazette opening the scoring from the penalty spot. Emile Smith-Rowe made it two in the second 45.
But it was Nketiah that got the best goal of the night. Cedric Soares crossed superbly for Nketiah, who finished with a gorgeous flick behind him.
His 14th senior goal for the Gunners, Nketiah posted on Instagram after the win over League One Wimbledon – commenting on his phone celebration.
Nketiah scores: Arsenal teammates, Sessegnon respond on Instagram
It is an interesting time for Nketiah at Arsenal right now. The ex-England Under-21 skipper is out of contract at the end of the season.
He remains behind the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Lacazette up top. Folarin Balogun is close behind him, meaning Nketiah could go.
But his goal will have been a reminder to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta. Not only did he score a delightful effort, but his work rate was top notch.
He is also well-liked among the Arsenal fanbase, and alongside his teammates. That was apparent on his Instagram post, in the comments.
Indeed, Charlie Patino, Bukayo Saka and Cedric Soares were among those to react – as was Tottenham man Ryan Sessegnon ahead of Sunday’s NLD.
Soares labelled his goal as “fantastic”.
