Arsenal ran out 4-0 winners against Newcastle United, in what was one of their best performances of the season.

Mikel Arteta’s side ran riot in the second half at the Emirates Stadium, with goals coming from all the big-hitters Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette.

It was a much-needed victory for the north London giants, who may or may not have been given something to work towards with Manchester City currently banned from the UEFA Champions League.

At the moment, fifth place will be afforded entry into Europe’s elite competition next season, meaning Arsenal are only six points adrift.

Against Newcastle, there were a host of strong individual performances, with Bukayo Saka in particular catching the eye.

The English starlet has really raised his game in recent weeks, and his assist for Pepe’s goal that included a nutmeg on Valentino Lazaro was extremely impressive.

He may have been operating at left-back, but Saka showed he has much to offer in the final third.

His display came amid the exciting recent form of teammate Gabriel Martinelli, who was an unused substitute on Sunday.

TBR’s view – Saka and Martinelli the Auba and Laca successors?

Reports have been plentiful this season about the futures of Aubameyang and Lacazette.

The two senior stars have both been linked with summer exits, and missing out on Champions League football would certainly make it difficult for the club to retain them.

But Saka and Martinelli have quietly been showing that the future of the Arsenal front line is in good hands.

The pair admittedly haven’t been on the scene for very long and have a combined age of just 36, but the exciting prospects are showing very positive signs.
