Thomas Partey has sent a message of support to Arsenal teammate Granit Xhaka after his mistake in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley.
The Switzerland star’s misplaced pass struck Chris Wood and ended up beyond Bernd Leno and into the net.
It ensured Arsenal had to settle for a point despite taking the lead at Turf Moor through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Xhaka has been largely impressive this season and his form has earnt him plenty of praise from the club’s supporters.
On the back of his mistake, he took to Instagram to apologise to the club’s fan base for his moment of magic at Burnley.
Afterwards, he received messages of support from several players with Thomas Partey replying with a particularly heartfelt sentiment.
Xhaka has been reborn in the Arsenal midfield this season and the 28-year-old has performed extremely well.
The hope will be that his latest mistake is merely a blip and that he can forget about it quickly.
He has played 32 times for the Gunners this season and has been instrumental in Mikel Arteta’s team.
His good form has been a godsend – considering Partey’s rotten luck with injuries.
The former Atletico Madrid star has spent some time on the sidelines, managing just 16 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.
Xhaka and Partey are in direct competition for a place really but it seems as though the two get along well.
The captain of Switzerland still has his critics among the Emirates Stadium support but it seems his teammates value him highly.
A quick glance at the responses to his Instagram post shows how popular he is inside the camp.
As a result, supporters might have to come round to Arteta’s thinking regarding the £100,000-a-week player.
