Reiss Nelson has posted on Instagram after being handed just his second Arsenal start of the season in a 3-0 Europa League win over Dundalk on Thursday – and both Jadon Sancho and Micah Richards praised the winger in response.
Nelson, 20, starred as Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 win against Dundalk at The Emirates with goals coming from Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock and Nicolas Pepe. Nelson had only made one previous start this season, the Carabao Cup win over Leicester.
The England Under-21 ace and former Hoffenheim loanee is yet to play a single minute in this season’s Premier League – like Willock. His crossing was a particular highlight, swinging balls into the box 10 times and creating three chances (WhoScored).
Nelson posted on Instagram after clocking up his 42nd senior appearance Arsenal, in what was his fifth first-team outing of the season. He will be hoping his efforts will have caught the attention of Mikel Arteta, as he lasted the entire 90 minutes.
Willian is returning to full fitness while the Gunners also boast the impressive Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe on the flanks. It leaves £15,000-a-week (Spotrac) Nelson with little chance of breaking into the senior side on a more regular basis.
Borussia Dortmund superstar Sancho responded, commenting “my boy” while Sky Sports and BBC Sport pundit Micah Richards also reacted to Nelson’s post – applauding the Gunners winger.
