Mesut Ozil has hosted a Q&A session on his Twitter account on Monday evening and the Arsenal star raved about Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos – amid reports that Tottenham Hotspur are taking a look at the veteran Spaniard.
Ramos, 34, continues to shine for Real Madrid – having scored his 100th goal in all competitions for Real Madrid earlier this season. Almost 16 years after joining the Spanish champions, Ramos has played 667 times for Madrid.
However, his contract is up in the summer and the Evening Standard report that Spurs are monitoring the 178-time Spain international ahead of a possible free transfer. It would see him form a reunion with Jose Mourinho.
Ozil – another former teammate of Ramos – responded to a question about the Spain skipper and claimed that the Tottenham-linked defender is the “best defender” of his generation, praising the player’s ambition.
Yes, he’s been world class for over a decade – and what a leader he has become. His ambition and will to win is amazing. I would say he’s the world’s best defender from my generation. 🔥🔥 @SergioRamos https://t.co/QwzvTx87xv

TBR’s view – Ramos would be sensational for Tottenham
Spurs have a surprise amount of national team captains in their ranks. Hugo Lloris (France), Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast), Gareth Bale (Wales), Harry Kane (England) and Son Heung-min (South Korea) captain their countries.
It is clear Mourinho is trying to add to what is already a strong group full of leaders and Ramos fits that personality. Mourinho has also instilled a bite to his Spurs side and Ramos is perfect. On a free, he is a sensational addition.
