Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has apparently emerged as a possible transfer target for Serie A giants Napoli.
According to Calciomercato, the Italian side have made the South American a priority next month, with defensive midfielder Allan having been linked with an exit.
The Champions League outfit intend to make an approach for the 23-year-old, who has endured a frustrating 2019 at the Emirates Stadium.
Following a bright start in north London Torreira tailed off towards the back end of the 2018/19 season, and this term his struggles have continued.
Under Unai Emery he was at times played out of position, and speculation has been rife about his future.
It is on record that Torreira misses life in Italy (Goal) and follows the Serie A with a keen interest.
TBR’s view – Arsenal must stand firm
Arsenal need to dig their heels in as best they can if Napoli do come calling for Torreira.
Realistically Granit Xhaka is the man they should looking to offload next month, not the former Sampdoria man.
That said, if the club sense his heart isn’t in Arsenal as it should be, then the Gunners should be trying to recoup their initial £26 million investment (BBC Sport).
Right now, Arsenal can’t have players who may not be 100% committed.
