Serge Gnabry stole the show in London for a second time this season as he netted an excellent brace to help Bayern Munich beat Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge – and Arsenal star Hector Bellerin, and former Gunner Jack Wilshere have reacted.
Gnabry, 24, came into the match in enormous confidence having previously scored 15 goals and laid on 10 assists in just 29 appearances this season. He took his tally to 17 with two well-taken goals, effectively ending the last 16 tie.
The Germany international scored his first from 10 yards after Robert Lewandowski squared to the ex-Arsenal man, before the duo linked up again. Despite going away from goal, Gnabry tucked the ball home with his left to make it 2-0.
Alphonso Davies created the third, bombing down the left and handing Lewandowski a tap-in to make it three. Gnabry, who scored four goals against Tottenham earlier this season in north London, joked on Instagram that London is “still red”.
Gnabry managed just 18 appearances for Arsenal and after a disappointing loan at West Brom, he was sold permanently to Werder Bremen in 2016. He has since gone to Bayern, where he has netted 30 goals and created 19 in 72 outings.
The Bayern attacker played alongside Bellerin and now-West Ham star Wilshere in the Arsenal side, both in the academy, reserve sides and then senior team. Both of the former teammates responded to his Instagram post.
