Arsenal staff are still actually considering whether to make a bid for ‘incredible’ player

Arsenal now have just a matter of days to wait until their season opener against Wolves on Saturday where they will begin their title charge.

But there is only set to be one summer signing potentially on display for Mikel Arteta‘s side with Riccardo Calafiori marking the only addition so far.

There is just over two weeks for Arsenal to land some further signings in the market before the window shuts until January.

And there has to be questions asked whether Arsenal have done enough to turn the tables at the top of the Premier League.

With just over two weeks remaining until all business is put on hold until January, the Gunners are now considering whether to make a move for one midfield target.

Arsenal chiefs now considering £25m move for midfielder

It has been an interesting summer for the Gunners who were made to wait when it came to securing Calafiori’s signature.

There is still a desire for Arsenal to bring in further additions, but those players have to be the right ones for Arteta to accept them into his squad.

Mikel Merino is a player who Arsenal are monitoring this summer with Arteta looking to add his compatriot to the Gunners’ midfield.

And The Athletic have now claimed that the Arsenal chiefs are still considering whether they should actually make a move for Merino.

The Spain international is a player who Arteta is said to be enamoured with having watched the Real Sociedad player at length.

Sociedad are already under the impression that Merino has made the decision he would like to make the move to north London this summer.

Arsenal need to make Mikel Merino decision

The Gunners are now weeks into their interest in Merino and they seem no further forward in their decision making on whether to actually progress their interest further.

And it has to be said that time is running out for Arsenal when it comes to this summer’s transfer market.

Arteta has now missed the cut for any summer signings to join ahead of the new campaign in time for their pre-season efforts.

Any player that lands now would likely have to undergo a settling in period before really making an impression on the starting XI.

Merino has been hailed an ‘incredible‘ player with plenty of experience which could well reduce the pressure of his potential late arrival in the window.
