Simon Jordan claims Arsenal will sack Mikel Arteta before regaining top four spot

Former Crystal Palace owner, Simon Jordan, believes Arsenal will move on from Mikel Arteta before making the leap back into the top four under a new manager.

Jordan made the comparison when speaking on his One 2 One programme for Talksport. The outspoken pundit was as honest as ever when answering questions, including one about Arteta and his Arsenal future. Specifically, he was asked about the Gunners’ hopes of making the top four.

However, Jordan doesn’t believe Arteta will get the chance to lead Arsenal there. Instead, he believes the Spaniard will suffer a similar fate to that which Frank Lampard did at Chelsea.

“I think that Arteta is building the base, and I think it’s going to be similar to the situation that occurred at Chelsea. Someone gets to assemble all the parts, and someone else, the grown up, gets to come in and put them all together like Tuchel has done at Chelsea,” Jordan said.

“So I don’t think Arsenal have the capability of getting into the top four. I don’t know who will get in there, but the bottom line is I don’t think Arsenal will get in there. And I don’t think Arteta will be the longer-term manager.”

The Gunners have slipped back into a poor run of form after springing together a surge of results. As always with poor results, that has put the microscope firmly back on Arteta.

TBR’s View: Jordan Makes Great Point With Chelsea Comparison

He might be opinionated, but a lot of the time Simon Jordan is right and he’s got a good point here.

We did see it at Chelsea. Frank Lampard was given lots of money but then when it didn’t quite work, the club moved for Thomas Tuchel to get things over the line. And this is what Jordan is hinting at here with Arsenal.

Ultimately, Arteta will be judged on results. If he misses out on Europe again, then the pressure will ramp up and Jordan’s thoughts might just happen.
