Arsenal signing Ryan Fraser should see Reiss Nelson look elsewhere

Arsenal are considering a summer swoop for Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser, according to a report by 90min.

Tottenham and Everton are also weighing up making a move for the player who will be out of contract during the summer.

The Scotland international hasn’t been at his best this season, scoring just once and registering four assists in 31 appearances.

If Arsenal were to land him they’d be pursuing him on the back of his 2018/19 campaign. He bagged eight goals and registered 15 assists as the Cherries finished 13th in the Premier League.

On a free transfer, he could prove a shrewd piece of business for the Gunners and it’s fair to say they do need wingers.

If Fraser was to arrive at the Emirates Stadium it could force Reiss Nelson into looking for a move elsewhere.

The 20-year-old has scored twice and registered three assists in 17 appearances this season.

Form

He has started just 10 games under Mikel Arteta, however, and if Fraser is added his chances of regular football look even less likely.

At 20 Nelson has plenty of developing to do but in order to fulfil his potential, he will need to be playing football.

A loan spell at Hoffenheim last season saw him bag seven goals and it was anticipated he might kick on during 2019/20.

Fraser, 26 is probably a more polished option and playing with better players than he is right now would surely see him become a hit.

The versatile winger earns £27,000-a-week at the Vitality Stadium and he would be an extremely affordable option for the Gunners.

It wouldn’t be a good signing from Nelson’s perspective, however, and seeking a move elsewhere might be the best thing for his career.
