Arsenal signing Ferran Torres in January could happen - journalist
Journalist Graeme Bailey has told 90min’s Talking Transfers podcast that Ferran Torres could be the attacker Arsenal sign during the January transfer window, with Barcelona loaning him out a possibility.
The Gunners are on the lookout for another forward after missing out on Mykhaylo Mudryk. And they have already been linked with a host of names in the days since Mudryk joined Chelsea.
Raphinha was the first Barcelona player linked with a potential move to the Emirates. Sport Italia reported at the weekend that they had made contact about a potential deal for the Brazilian.

But they have also looked at his teammate at Camp Nou. 90min reported at the weekend that they had made contact with the Catalan giants about a potential deal for Torres.
Arsenal had made enquiries for both Barcelona players. It seems that Raphinha is unlikely to leave Xavi’s side in this window. But that may not be the case for Torres.
In fact, Bailey has suggested that there is reason to believe that the 22-year-old could be the answer for Arsenal.
“He’s a player who Arsenal have liked for a long time, even before he left City. Mikel Arteta knows this boy well. I think he is a perfect fit for Arsenal, I really do. Of all the players linked, I think Ferran Torres, under the radar, could be a sensational pick-up for Arsenal,” he told the Talking Transfers podcast.
“Keep an eye on this, this one could happen. It’s got chances. Barca could loan him. So yeah, I think Torres could be the one that Arsenal turn to.”
It would be amazing for Arsenal to bring Torres to North London before the end of the window. Xavi has described him as a ‘spectacular‘ talent. And clearly, he is only going to get better in the coming years.
He is not going to come cheap. Barca paid £46 million for the Spain international. But even if they were prepared to only take a small profit, Torres would be a lot cheaper than many of the names on the market.
Arsenal have an amazing opportunity this season to go on and achieve something special. They sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table. And they will not want to let this chance slip through their grasp.
Signing Torres would be such a statement of intent. And it seems that a deal may not be out of the question.
