According to The Sun, Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton has rejected a new contract offer from the Clarets. The 33-year-old’s current deal only has 12 months left to run. Therefore, if Heaton is not prepared to extend his stay at Turf Moor, then time is running out for Sean Dyche to cash in on the No. 1.
Heaton joined Burnley in 2013, when the club were in the Championship. He went on to play a key role in helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League. He was able to impress in the top flight too, to the extent that he received international recognition. However, injury concerns have persistently beset the 3-cap England man in recent seasons. As such, he has struggled for regular game time and has fallen down the pecking order at Burnley.

A change of scene is now probably necessary for Heaton to reignite his career. Arsenal ought to offer him the chance of getting back on track. With veteran ‘keeper Petr Cech having recently retired, the Gunners are in need of someone to compete with Bernd Leno for the starting berth between the sticks.
Heaton represents the perfect candidate for Unai Emery to bring to the Emirates Stadium to take up this place in the squad. Given his contractual situation, Heaton would be an affordable target. What’s more, he would also bring plenty of experience and he has previously proven his quality in the Premier League.
Following the news of Heaton’s contract rejection, Arsenal should be ready to pounce.
