Arsenal appear to be having difficulty completing a proposed loan move for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Spaniard for weeks, and the latest is that talks have broken down due to the north Londoners’ unwillingness to insert an option-to-buy clause into the player’s proposed deal (Guillem Balague).
Barcelona supposedly want the player off their books, since he’s just two appearances in La Liga this term.
There is simply too much competition for places at the Nou Camp, with Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic, Arthur, Arturo Vidal, Philippe Coutinho and Carles Alena all vying to start.
Perhaps Arsenal could test the waters over another forgotten Barcelona midfielder though, one who is very similar to Suarez in terms of ability.
Rafinha could be a fine alternative
Also struggling for game time at the Nou Camp is Rafinha.
The Brazilian has actually made a few more appearances than Suarez this term, with five league appearances.
The star, brother of Thiago Alcantara, has made 87 appearances for the Catalan giants since breaking through to the first-team in 2014.
Those stats would suggest he is in need of a change in environment, and Arsenal could be a great choice.
Rafinha, linked with Tottenham Hotspur last summer, is an accurate and incisive passer of the ball with good technical qualities.
Surely, if Arsenal are struggling over Suarez, they should test the waters over Rafinha since he’s in a similar situation to his teammate.
