Dennis Bergkamp has spoken in glowing terms about his time at Arsenal and wants to work away from Holland in his next job, according to the Sunday People, page 49, 19/05.
Bergkamp’s last job was a behind-the-scenes role at Ajax – who took Europe by storm this season – helping develop their young players and implementing the philosophy that took them within seconds of the Champions League final.
And speaking about his future plans, Bergkamp said: “At Ajax, I formed a bridge between the academy and the first team and I want to work in a similar way. I see myself getting a job abroad.
“I enjoyed my football in London from day one. I loved the English culture and the climax was when we won the Double. The culture change under Arsene Wenger was absolutely massive.”

Arsenal are at a crossroads in terms of needing to go in a different direction, with a modern and streamlined approach to taking on the post-Wenger era.
Bergkamp wouldn’t be the recruitment guru Arsenal need, but could provide a link between a youth academy that produces talented youngsters – but who need battle hardening – and a first team that could do with new blood.
He seems keen and hungry for a new challenge and as someone who set the wheels in motion for the Ajax side who took the breath away at times this season, he undoubtedly has something to offer Arsenal. Unai Emery should try and get him back to north London.
