Arsenal should demand more than £9m if PSG want Ramsey in January

Paris Saint Germain have joined the race to land Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and want him in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Welshman’s contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in the summer and with an extension not looking likely, the Mirror report that the French champions are ready to battle Juventus and Bayern Munich for his services.

But PSG are reportedly looking to steal a march by offering Arsenal the chance to get some cash in for Ramsey with an earlier deal, and will offer £9m to secure him next month.

The report points out that PSG have a midfielder of their own with a contract stand-off lingering over him – Adrien Rabiot – and claims they want Ramsey as a replacement.

There is an incentive for both sides to negotiate, but for £9m, it is not worth Arsenal letting Ramsey leave midway through the season, when it would be very difficult to secure a replacement of the same quality at a reasonable price.

If the teams can engineer a swap deal, then that would work for all parties, but Unai Emery should demand far more than a seven-figure sum if PSG want Ramsey mid-season – he can still make a big contribution to Arsenal’s season.
