Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has emerged as a surprise transfer target for AS Monaco.
According to L’Equipe (via Mirror), the Ligue 1 outfit are keen to sanction a £27 million deal for the German, who has endured a nightmare few years at the club following his move from Valencia.

The 2016 signing apparently wants to stay at the club to prove himself, but Gunners boss Unai Emery has lost patience with the error-prone 27-year-old.
The £90,000-a-week player (Spotrac) can be a decent player at times, but is far too prone to lapses which have cost Arsenal several points over the last couple of years.
With Monaco said to be interested, perhaps Emery should consider asking them for Kamil Glik to be included in any deal.
TBR’s view
Arsenal are crying out for an individual with good leadership qualities at the back, and steely Glik is absolutely that kind of player.
The 6ft 3in star is known for his authority on the pitch and wore the captain’s armband at previous club Torino. He is currently the vice-captain at Monaco behind Radamel Falcao.

A no-nonsense type centre-half, Glik’s aggression, physicality and surprising mobility make him a fearsome opponent and he would be a big upgrade on Mustafi, despite being a few years older (31).
He was tremendous during the 2016/17 season when Monaco beat Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title, and is now in his peak years.
With Arsenal looking likely to lose club captain Laurent Koscielny this summer, it’s definitely something worth considering, before highly rated youngster William Saliba arrives for 2020/21.
