Arsenal should consider Wolves star Ruben Neves if they land target Nuno Espirito Santo

The pressure is building on current Arsenal boss Unai Emery following a poor run of results recently and it looks like his position at the Emirates Stadium is under threat.

According to the Daily Mail, his position with the Gunners is “under scrutiny” due to inconsistent form and there has been a lot of vocal frustration from supporters.

It is understood that Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo is the “leading candidate” to replace Emery if he is dismissed from his role.

The report does detail that the North London club are “concerned” about trying to prize away a manager currently in work midway through a season and could turn to first-team coach Freddie Ljungberg and academy boss Steve Bould until the summer if needed.

After a Europa League match with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night, Arsenal have a favourable run of league games against Norwich City, Brighton and West Ham.

It will be intriguing to see if Emery can turn things around, but he is surely under pressure right now.

Nuno is a highly-rated manager that has increased his reputation in recent years, as he helped Wolves earn promotion from the Championship and guided them to a seventh-placed league finish last season in the Premier League.

He’s got a talented group of players at Molineux that are thriving under him, which is why it could be a smart idea for Arsenal to try complete a double Wolves raid if they do end up trying to appoint him their next manager.

Ruben Neves is the Wolves star that should be targeted if Nuno arrives, which would be an incredible double addition.

Neves is a central midfielder that has the individual quality to slot into most teams around the world, as he’s extremely confident in possession and has excellent vision.

The 22-year-old is best operating as a deep-lying playmaker where he dictates the ball and breaks up play, which is why him next to current Arsenal enforcer Matteo Guendouzi could be a perfect combination.

He is a Portugal international that has his peak years ahead of him and he should be on the Gunners raid, especially given the speculation around his manager Nuno.
