Arsenal should act fast hijack Everton’s move for Delph

According to the BBC, Everton are close to securing the signing of Fabian Delph in a deal worth up to £10 million. This would be a brilliant signing for the Toffees and they look to be on the verge of getting it over the line.

However, before Delph commits his future to the Merseyside outfit, Arsenal should act fast and make a move to hijack the deal. The Gunners haven’t got a huge amount to spend this summer, so the fact that the 29-year-old is available for such a reasonable fee should make him an attractive prospect.

Delph only has one year left to run on his current deal with the reigning Premier League champions, and is not a regular starter in Pep Guardiola’s side. Therefore, this is the perfect time for him to move on from the Etihad Stadium.

The 20-cap England man would be an ideal fit at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal desperately need both a new left-back and a new central midfielder. Delph is able to operate comfortably in both of these positions, and has proven himself at the highest level.

The two-time Premier League winner would bring grit, tenacity and experience to Emery’s ranks. For the price of £10 million, he would be a bargain for the Gunners. However, time is running out for Arsenal to conduct this smart bit of business.
