Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Denis Suarez this month.

As reported by The Mirror, Gunners boss Unai Emery wants to sign the Spaniard from Barcelona, with the Catalan giants open to a £20 million sale.

According to Sport, Suarez has left out of Barca’s squad to face Getafe in La Liga on Sunday night due to the ongoing speculation.

Suarez has been starved of game time this term having made just four substitute appearances.

The recent arrivals of Philippe Coutinho, Arturo Vidal and Arthur have really dented his hopes of playing regularly.

Arsenal appear to be the team in pole position to sign him, after West Ham United failed with a £20 million offer, but maybe the Gunners should be looking at one of his teammates instead.

Arsenal should enter Gomes race

Although Suarez is a good player, Arsenal need to be careful they don’t overpay for a player whose contract expires in 18 months.

He hasn’t played too much football recently and it would be a risky move for the Gunners. That said, The Sun have reported it could be a loan move for Suarez with Arsenal lacking funds.

Perhaps they should instead be focusing on joining the race to sign Andre Gomes, who has impressed with Everton this season.

Gomes, on loan from Barca for the season, is wanted by Everton permanently and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the silky playmaker in recent weeks.

Mundo Deportivo claim Barca would take just £22 million for him – surely that would be a more worthwhile deal for Arsenal to pursue.

Gomes has proven he can do it in the Premier League and would be an ideal replacement for Aaron Ramsey at the end of the season.
