Arsenal could now make a real splash in the market as they eye what would be one of the biggest deals of the summer.

The clock is ticking on Edu Gaspar as he works behind the scenes to pull off any final deals for Arsenal in the market.

Mikel Arteta has been handed two new players already this summer, but there is certainly a feeling of more being able to be done.

The latest of those signings came earlier this week when Arsenal announced the singing of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

With a new defender and midfielder on board, Arsenal are believed to now be looking to sign goalkeeper Joan Garcia to replace Aaron Ramsdale.

However, the Gunners could be going for the full set with Arsenal also eyeing any late opportunities to sign a forward before the end of play on Friday.

Arsenal eyeing late deal for striker Mikel Arteta has met with

A new striker is something of real possibility over these final hours in the window with Arsenal having seen Gabriel Jesus already picked up an injury.

Arsenal have considered an eleventh hour move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen over the final week.

However, there is another Chelsea target who the Gunners are also plotting a late move for as he remains in search of a new club.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Arsenal are now considering a late push for the Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

The journalist has claimed his sources have suggested the Gunners are eyeing a potential move for the 28-year-old who is of real interest to Chelsea.

Toney has also been subject of interest from Saudi Arabia this summer with his options in the Premier League having looked thin just a matter of days ago.

However, it seems as if he could be thrown a lifeline with Arsenal still in the market to land a new striker.

Mikel Arteta has already met with Ivan Toney this summer

Despite the claims of the Gunners eyeing a late move for Toney, the recent history between the two parties is not said to be positive.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta actually held a meeting with Ivan Toney earlier this summer and it is not one that went down well with the Spaniard.

Arteta passed on the opportunity to sign the ‘world class‘ Brentford striker who represented England at the Euros this summer.

But it could well be a case of Arsenal becoming slightly concerned they are heading into the season with a real lack of depth up top.
