Arsenal set for a familiar summer with Houssem Aouar, Lyon want £43m
Arsenal’s summer is set to be a busy one again, with Mikel Arteta set to be backed by the Kroenke’s to overhaul his squad again.
The backing for Arteta will come, despite the club missing out on Europe all together. It is believed Arteta still retains the support of the board for now but, crucially, they do want to see an improvement.
That means the Gunners boss must simply get it spot on in the summer window this time around. A number of players will leave, while the Spanish manager will work with Edu Gaspar to bring in the right players.
One name who is likely to be mentioned again is Lyon midfielder, Houssem Aouar. The Frenchman was touted as a signing throughout last summer but in the end, a hefty price tag saw the Gunners move on to Thomas Partey instead.
And with Lyon once again demanding big cash this summer, could we see Arsenal left in the same boat when it comes to Aouar?
Lyon want £43m for Houssem Aouar
Per a report from Calciomercato this week, it is claimed that Lyon will demand around £43m for Aouar. That price has dipped a bit, given they wanted closer to the £60m mark last summer.
But it’s still hardly a bargain buy, and CM claim that even the mighty Real Madrid are reluctanct to pay such a price. Surely, that leaves Arsenal in a similar situation when it comes to the midfielder?
The Gunners are likely to be prudent in their spending. Of course, summer sales could help fund any move and if Arteta does want Aouar, then he might see £43m as a price worth paying.
Yet again, then, we look like being in for a summer of will-he, won’t-he, when it comes to Aouar. Arsenal fans should prepare themselves for another rocky ride with this one.
