Arsenal fans react to performance of Sam Greenwood in FA Youth Cup victory

Arsenal’s under-18 outfit defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 4-3 to reach the quarter-final of the FA Youth Cup.

Sam Greenwood scored twice for the Gunners, with Miguel Azeez and Roco Rees also bagging.

Steff Vukoke and Lorent Tolaj (2) ensured the Seagulls made a fist of the round of 16 contest.

It was the performance of Greenwood which caught the eye.

The 18-year-old has been in decent form for the Gunners this season, bagging seven goals in all competitions.

Arsenal signed Greenwood from Sunderland as a 16-year-old (Chronicle Live).

He checked into the Emirates having scored 21 goals in 26 games for various age groups with the Black Cats academy.

Arsenal have a proud history of allowing youngsters a platform to play first-team football.

Mikel Arteta has played some younger players since arriving.

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have been regulars since he replaced Unai Emery.

Greenwood will hope that if he continues scoring goals he too could make the step up to first-team stardom in future years.
