Arsenal reportedly want to sign PL star who left Thierry Henry wondering 'how does he do that?'
Arsenal have been linked with Chelsea star N’Golo Kante in recent days.
According to Footmercato, the France international has been offered to the Gunners, as well as Tottenham.
Kante’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the report suggests he could leave on a free transfer.
In addition, the 31-year-old apparently wants to stay put in London, which is where Arsenal come in.
Arsenal – as well as Spurs – ‘are the London clubs with the most ambition on the national and European scene’.
In addition, Kante is said to be uninterested in joining Paris Saint-Germain.
A star everyone knows – but is he right for Arsenal?
Ever since helping Leicester to the Premier League title, Kante has enjoyed a reputation as one of the best midfielders in the world.
He then starred at Chelsea, winning a host of trophies at Stamford Bridge, as well as helping France win the 2018 World Cup.
Just last year, Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry lauded Kante.
He told the FIVE YouTube channel: ‘Listen, you notice certain guys because they score and grab the headlines.
‘But I rarely see a player who arrives before the ball. Like, he already knows the ball is going to land there. Sometimes he arrives before the ball and I’m like, “how does he do that?!”
‘He reads the game to be able to intercept the ball without fouling or tackling most of the time. He arrives at the same time as the ball, sometimes earlier.
‘The amount of times he turns a counter-attack for his opponent to a counter-attack for his team… You are building and suddenly he gets the ball and you’re in trouble. So many times!
‘So many times you see him getting the ball back and soon after it’s a goal for Chelsea. The capacity he has to read the game and see where the ball is going, sometimes he gets there before the ball!
‘It’s not guessing. When they say a striker smells the goal, it’s the same with Kante. He knows exactly where the ball is going and he can read the pass and the pattern of play.’
However, Kante has struggled with injury as of late, and has made just two appearances for Chelsea this season.
He is also on a reported £290,000-a-week, and he turns 32 in March.
So the question is, do Arsenal really need him, considering his salary, injury issues, and age?
