Arsenal reportedly want player that Patrick Vieira claimed is one of the best in his position

Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer but face competition from the likes of Manchester United and Everton – and Patrick Vieira is clearly an enormous fan of the France international.

Rabiot, 25, is expected to leave Juventus this summer after struggling to adapt to the enormous competition in central midfield at Juventus. The likes of Blaise Matuidi, Miralem Pjanic, Sami Khedira, Aaron Ramsey have kept Rabiot on the bench.

The six-time France international has managed to complete 90 minutes just nine times this season – clocking up 24 outings in all competitions. After just one season, he is now expected to depart despite having a contract until 2023.

French outlet Le10Sport say Arsenal, Everton and Manchester United want Rabiot this summer, with the Gunners looking to bring in competition for the likes of Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi. He could cost £27million.

Speaking while in charge of New York City in 2017, Invincibles skipper Vieira claimed Rabiot was becoming one of the best in his position as quoted by website Paris Fans: “Rabiot is becoming one of the best players in this position.”

TBR’s view – Is Rabiot better than Thomas Partey?

Right now, no. Partey should be right at the top of Arsenal’s shortlist. Not only is he excellent on the ball, but it is Partey’s work rate, strength and footballing intelligence that sees him shine in the middle of the park for Atleti.

Rabiot is more of a Rolls-Royce midfielder that shines when his side dominate possession. Different midfielders, but The Gunners need Partey more. However, combining both Partey and Rabiot would be the ideal scenario.
