Arsenal reportedly want Dybala, surely a swap deal makes sense? – TBR View

Arsenal are reportedly considering a sensational move to bring Paulo Dybala to The Emirates just two years after a move to Tottenham Hotspur fell through at the final hurdle – but does it present the perfect opportunity to strike a swap deal?

Dybala, 27, has struggled to find his best form at Juventus this season under the guidance of Andrea Pirlo – with the Italian boss preferring to use Alvaro Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo up top. He is set to enter the final 12 months of his current deal.

SPORT claim Arsenal are looking to take advantage of that and lure the Argentine to North London, after Tottenham came so close to doing so in 2019 – only for image rights to scupper a deal. However, that is only if they fail to sign Martin Odegaard.

The Norwegian is shining at Arsenal but there is no permanent clause in his contract and reports from Spain emerged on Friday, suggesting there is no chance that Madrid will let Arsenal keep the ex-Vitesse and Sociedad loanee beyond the summer.

Even though Dybala is likely to enter the latter stages of his contract and that may reduce his price tag, he is still likely to cost a pretty penny. Spanish newspaper Marca have claimed that Dybala is rated at £47million.

But surely, the reported interest from Arsenal hands Juve and the Gunners the perfect chance to pull off a deal that would see players go either way. That is because, CalcioMercato say Juventus want to sign Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette, like Dybala, is set to enter the last 12 months of his contract and if Arsenal can get a fee for the Frenchman – they are likely to take it. But better yet, why not use Juve’s interest in him to help reduce Dybala’s hefty price tag?

Including Lacazette would not be a straight swap but certainly, the fee included in a deal alongside Lacazette would be a lot closer to £20million – instead of £47million. Surely, then, including Lacazette in a move for Dybala makes utter sense.
