Arsenal reportedly want 10-cap international that said he idolised Thierry Henry in 2020
Arsenal are reportedly keen on Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who previously admitted he idolised Gunners legend Thierry Henry.
The Telegraph reports that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old striker.
It is understood that the north London club would love to revamp their forward line, so the Everton frontman is someone they would want if it’s possible.
Calvert-Lewin has improved is finishing greatly in the last year. Therefore, he finished the 2020/21 season with 21 goals across all competitions.
The 10-cap England international, who’s currently at Euro 2020 with the Three Lions squad, is an all-round striker that is great in so many areas.
Firstly, he’s got the pace and athleticism to stretch defences all game with runs in behind. Secondly, he’s arguably the best forward in the air across the entire Premier League. His jump off a standing start is frightening. Finally, he’s a physical player that suits the Premier League and is developing at a rapid rate.
Calvert-Lewin admirers an Arsenal icon
Everton star Calvert-Lewin previously shared his love for an Arsenal great.
“Thierry Henry is my other idol. Whenever I used to try and get football shirts it was Thierry Henry’s football shirt because he was my favourite player, and I don’t think you can argue with that one,” he said in an interview back in 2020.
This isn’t to say Arsenal have any kind of advantage if they decide to ramp up interest in Calvert-Lewin, but people right now forget how prestigious a club they are.
Henry is a Premier League great that so many young forwards over a decade ago wanted to copy.
There is no doubt being the star forward at Arsenal should appeal to most.
