Arsenal reportedly ‘very interested’ in Moussa Dembele if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette leave

Arsenal are reportedly still interested in a move for Olympique Lyonnais striker Moussa Dembele, according to a report.

Foot Mercato is claiming that Arsenal are ‘very interested’ in the Frenchman, who could be on his way out of Lyon this summer.

The report details several clubs who could still be interested in the player, with Arsenal listed first. Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keen on the 23-year-old who has scored 22 goals in 42 games this season.

However, Arsenal will reportedly only move for the player if they lose either Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

It is not the first time Arsenal have been linked with the former Fulham and Celtic striker. Back in March, Le10 Sport reported that the Gunners were keen, highlighting a potential €80 million (£71m) price-tag.

After the global health crisis, that fee is bound to have dropped, with Lyon looking to bring in some much-needed funds to offset the impact of Ligue 1’s premature climax and Lyon’s subsequent failure to qualify for Europe.

It comes amid reports that Manchester United have scrapped their long-standing interest in the player. The Daily Star claims the Red Devils no longer see him as a necessary expense amid the emergence of Mason Greenwood as a credible first-team threat.

That report suggested a £60 million price-tag on Dembele, which would still seem costly for Arsenal in the current market.

But given his age and goal-scoring ability, there is no doubt he might one day prove a perfect replacement for either Aubameyang or Lacazette, given the unknown nature of their Emirates’ futures.
