Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Valencia striker Maxi Gomez.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are one of several sides monitoring the Uruguay international, who is expected to be sold in January.

It is thought Valencia are in financial difficultly at the moment, and need to raise funds through player sales.

Gomez actually has a release clause of £125 million, but the Spanish outfit know they won’t be able to get anywhere near that fee for the player.

The star has scored three goals in 10 games this season, which follows a haul of 11 last term.

In total, Gomez has scored 43 goals in 114 La Liga matches across stints with Celta Vigo and Valencia.

While he is not really super prolific, Gomez is known for his ability to hold the ball up and is very effective in the air.

He was also dubbed ‘the new Luis Suarez’ a couple of years back (Ovacion).

TBR View – Worth looking into for Arsenal

Right now the Gunners are really struggling to score goals, so it is little surprise to see a striker linked with a move to the Emirates.

A move for Gomez could be worth considering but it depends what kind of price Valencia set.

If he isn’t too expensive then Mikel Arteta should strongly consider a swoop, as Gomez and his physical style could really excel in the Premier League.
