Arsenal could offer Hector Bellerin to PSG to try and sign Julian Draxler, with Mikel Arteta apparently more open to player trades than seeking big money.
That is according to Duncan Castles, who was speaking on his Transfer Window podcast this week.
Bellerin is apparently ready to leave the Gunners this summer. CBS Sports claim the Spaniard is ready to leave Arsenal and seek a move away, just a year after he was heavily linked with a move to PSG.
However, Arsenal and Arteta could use the situation to their advantage, with Castles claiming that Draxler is on the radar of Mikel Arteta.
“It is our information that Bellerin and his agent have told the club he wants to leave this summer. Arteta has decided we must make the best of the opportunity,” the pod claimed.
“The most likely suitors for Bellerin are PSG. And in that being the case, Arteta has told Edu that given the situation it is more viable to trade players, he has asked Edu to discuss the possibility of a swap deal for Julian Draxler.”
Draxler has long been courted by Premier League teams, including Arsenal, but has so far failed to land on English soil.
The German World Cup winner has 56 caps for his country and has played 16 times for PSG this term. Indeed, he started and scored in a 2-1 win over Nice just a few weeks back.
TBR View: Draxler could be the answer but Arsenal would still need Bellerin replacement
The Gunners do have a lot of players in the form of Draxler already. A creative midfielder, capable of scoring the odd goal but never quite taking games by the scruff of the neck.
Martin Odegaard has come in to perform that exact role for Arsenal, so whether Areta fancies someone else remains to be seen.
You can’t deny Draxler’s quality, though. He’s also won at the highest level, something the Gunners squad would most definitely welcome.
